A delegation from Datong City in China’s Shanxi Province visited
Sudbury November 13 and 14 to learn about Canadian mining technology and
promote trade and investment relations between the two countries.
Billing itself as China’s mining capital, Datong City is
strategically located in the heart of the country’s coal mining region
approximately 350 km north of Beijing.
Contacts with Datong City were initiated one year ago during a
Sudbury trade mission to China.
During their visit to Sudbury, representatives from Datong City’s
municipal government and equipment manufacturers toured MIRARCO’s
virtual reality lab and met with several mining supply and service
companies, including Bestech, Novenco, Fuller Industrial and WipWare
Inc. A meeting was also held with representatives of Collège Boréal to
discuss opportunities for occupational health and safety training.
The mission was organized by Qian Business Corporation, a
Toronto-based consulting company specializing in the promotion of trade
and investment between China and Canada.
Qian Business Corporation and Sudbury-based G1 Global signed a
two-year agreement during the mission to build the relationship and help
northeastern Ontario mining supply and service companies take advantage
of opportunities in China.
